No, you don't need to change your fire or stove due to the new law effective from 1st May 2021. Here are the key changes: House coal can be delivered by Approved Coal Merchants until April 2023, but from 1st May 2021, it must be pre-packed and delivered to your home. Only authorised smokeless fuels will be available, displaying the Ready to Burn logo. Wood logs sold in small quantities must have a moisture content of less than 20% and display the Woodsure Ready to Burn logo. Anthracite remains unchanged as it is naturally smokeless. To determine if you live in a smoke-controlled area, please contact your local district council for advice. Please be aware all of England now is only allowed authorised solid manufactured fuels in residential properties.
